Excerpt from the interview transcript:

– The topic of the conversation today is the following: patriotic education, education of a defender of the Fatherland. And I will introduce a participant in our program. Director of the Special Training Center of DOSAAF of Russia, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, author of the Golden Triangle close combat system Alexander Gennadievich Shlychkov. Hello.

– Hello, Alexander Mikhailovich.

– You are a veteran of combat operations in Afghanistan. You and I are almost the same age and we know what it was called NVP at school – initial military training. I would like to hear throughout our program some suggestions, your thoughts, as you see, what military training should be, because our topic is “Educating a Defender of the Fatherland,” and the programs that you offer, the author of which you are , they are at the core and they have it built into it.

– It was united and such a program was drawn up. We have a whole team of like-minded people with whom we work, the program has undergone certain testing in the Ministry of Defense, and in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and in the Federal Penitentiary Service, that is, we tried it and provided assistance in training fighters who work using these techniques. Based on this, we came to the conclusion that such a program would be necessary for the younger generation, who today live in, let’s say, difficult times. That is, they have to perform tasks that they did not expect to perform in principle. But realities make their own adjustments and they must be prepared for this.

– Your program, how does it fit into the school curriculum in general? Will she fit in easily?

– Well, I will say this: when I defended my Ph.D. thesis, it was close to this topic. I just worked with a contingent of schoolchildren. In short, I could highlight certain markers that would characterize this program. That is, first of all, it is the development of applied skills. We can say that these are military-applied or simply applied. Let’s say that civil society now has the right to carry civilian weapons, which means that people who own or are going to own these weapons must first of all be able to handle these weapons. Therefore, naturally, this is an applied skill that must form the basis for the training of young people. The second skill, the throwing skill, is the most ancient skill, it is not the main one, but it is a guide. This is the opening of proprioceptive sensitivity. This is the correct alignment of the throw. That is, muscle logistics are already underway here. Therefore, this is throwing, which we include in the program, and hand-to-hand combat techniques. That is, a person doesn’t have to if he doesn’t like boxing or kickboxing, Muay Thai, karate, or wrestling in general. But he must know defense skills. Protection on the street or in a situation where he will already be in the ranks of the armed forces and in carrying out his task he must use these techniques. Therefore, we have laid the basis of our work on teaching self-defense techniques. At the same time, it is implied that these are techniques not only when he is attacked without a weapon, but also with a weapon. It can be a bladed weapon, it can also be a crushing weapon, so we put into the program training methods that teach how to work with such objects.

Then there is the work of providing first aid. That is, in our opinion, a mandatory element that should be included in the program. That’s why we call this assistance pre-medical. That is, this is not tactical medicine, it is simply first aid.

Well, one of the key elements is also functional training, which allows a young man to prepare his muscles and joints specifically for performing such exercises, combat techniques, wrestling, throwing, shooting. We have a lot of preparatory work to do. This is joint gymnastics, this is mobility in the joints in three planes.
